Policies

Not very bro of us, we know. But these policies are necessary to provide clear and safe rules for both parties.

Eligibility

Age Requirement
Renters must be 18 years or older. Minors may participate only if accompanied by a parent or legal guardian, who must sign all required forms on their behalf.

Identification
A valid government-issued photo ID is required at the time of pickup. We will photograph the ID as part of our standard security and liability process.

Swimming Ability
All participants must be able to swim unassisted and feel comfortable in open water. For safety reasons, non-swimmers are not permitted to rent or participate in any Board Bros activities.

Physical Condition
Participants should be in good general health and free from any condition that could interfere with their safe use of paddle boarding equipment. This may include—but is not limited to—heart issues, recent surgeries, joint or back problems, or severe respiratory conditions. If you’re unsure whether it’s safe for you to participate, please consult a physician before booking.

Waiver Requirement
Every participant must sign a liability waiver and rental agreement waiver before using any equipment. No exceptions.

Booking and Payment Policy

Booking Policy

We keep things simple - but to secure your rental, a few key steps are required:

  • To get started, renters must submit a booking request through our website.

  • All rentals are picked up at our designated location unless delivery is arranged. Delivery fee applies

  • Once we confirm board availability, we’ll send you a confirmation email with a payment link via Square.

  • To lock in your reservation, we require a $20 deposit per board paid through that link.

    • This deposit is credited toward your total rental cost.

    • Example: If your rental is $45 per board, you’ll pay $20 upfront, then $25 at pickup.

  • The remaining balance is due in person at pickup, payable via credit or debit card using Square

  • Reservations are only secured once the deposit is received—no exceptions.

  • This deposit is refundable only if cancellation is made 24 hours in advance, per our cancellation policy

  • We accept all major credit cards.

Card on File

  • We require all renters to have their card on file.

  • At pickup, your card is swiped using Square, our PCI-compliant payment processor.

  • You'll be asked to agree and consent—via digital checkbox and email submission—to store your card on file.

  • We do not view or handle your card info ourselves—all data is securely encrypted and stored by Square, which is Level 1 PCI DSS compliant.

We will only charge your card if:

  • Equipment is returned damaged.

  • Equipment is returned late.

  • Equipment is not returned at all.

You will:

  • Receive written notice before the charge is processed.

  • Receive written notice to let you know the charge will not need to be processed.

  • Be provided with photo evidence in the event a charge is needed.

Important Notes:
By swiping your card, you authorize Board Bros to store your card through Square and charge it only as outlined above.
For your security, cards cannot be stored if keyed in manually—they must be physically presented and swiped on site.

Disputing a valid charge without cause (chargeback fraud) will result in a ban from future rentals and may be pursued legally. Board Bros reserve the right to refuse service to anyone.

Damages and Equipment Liability

When you rent with Board Bros, you agree to return all gear in the same condition as it was provided—clean, complete, and fully functional. This policy outlines your responsibilities, how damages are assessed, and how charges are handled if anything happens to the equipment during your rental.

Your Responsibilities
By signing the rental agreement and waiver, you acknowledge that:

  • You are fully responsible for all gear assigned to you during your rental period.

  • You will pay for repair or replacement if gear is returned damaged, excessively dirty, or missing.

  • You will notify Board Bros immediately if gear is lost, damaged, or stolen during your rental.

  • You are responsible for inspecting the gear upon pickup.

Inspection and Documentation Process

  • Gear will be inspected and documented once before the pickup time by Board Bros.

  • You are responsible for inspecting the gear after it has been handed to you.

  • After return, the gear will be inspected for damages within a 24-hour window.

What Counts as Damage?
Damages include but are not limited to:

  • Paddleboard punctures, delamination, broken fins, warping from heat or sun if stored overnight improperly.

  • Paddle: broken blades, bent or snapped shafts.

  • Life jackets (PFDs): missing straps, broken buckles, tears or excessive staining.

  • Accessories: missing or damaged straps, pumps, dry bags, or leashes.

  • Stolen or unreturned gear—full replacement charge applies.

Estimated Fee Schedule

  • Damages to paddleboard: $200

  • Damages to paddle: $50

  • Life Jacket (PFD): $30

  • Fin or Leash: $25

  • Pump or Dry Bag: $30
Note: These are estimates; charges may vary depending on replacement cost.

How You'll Be Charged
If damages or loss is identified, you'll receive:

  • Written notice via email within 24 hours.

  • Summary of findings, invoice, photo or video documentation.

  • A charge to your card on file.

Excessive Dirt or Contamination
Boards returned with excessive mud, algae, food residue, pet hair, or other materials that require special cleaning or replacement will incur a $15 cleaning fee or replacement fee as outlined above. If the gear is a little dirty where we can just hose it off, we don’t mind—but if it is stained to the point where it is unrentable, we will charge.

Unreturned Gear
If gear is not returned and you are unreachable by end of day past your scheduled end rental time and date, we will:

  • Consider the item stolen.

  • Notify the local authorities if necessary.

  • Charge the full replacement cost of $200 to your card on file.

Cancellation and No-Show Policy

We get it—plans change. But to keep things fair for everyone and avoid wasted time, this policy outlines how cancellations and no-shows are handled.

Cancellation Deadlines

  • Cancel 24+ hours before your rental time and date: Full refund of the $20 deposit.

  • Cancel within 24 hours of your rental time and date: Your $20 deposit is forfeited—no exceptions.

No-Show Policy

  • If you do not show up within 30 minutes of your scheduled pickup window and you haven’t contacted us, you are considered a no-show.

  • In this case:

    • Your gear will be released back into inventory.

    • Your $20 deposit is forfeited.

Weather, Danger, or Acts of God Related Cancellations

  • If dangerous conditions exist, Board Bros or you may cancel or reschedule your rental.

  • You will be offered a full refund of the deposit amount.

  • Overcast skies, light wind, or light drizzle do not qualify for weather-based cancellation refunds.

How to Cancel
To cancel, text or email us. The timestamp of your message will determine refund eligibility.

Late Return Policy

Your return time will be clearly stated at pickup, in your confirmation (if available), and confirmation of deposit email. You are expected to return the gear on or before the agreed time.

Grace Period

  • We offer a 20-minute grace period for unexpected delays.

  • After 20 minutes, late fees apply.

Late Fees

  • $10 per board per hour (or any portion of an hour, charged at the top of each hour) past the agreed return time.

  • If you are more than 3 hours late and haven’t contacted us, we may:

    • Consider the board unreturned.

    • Consider the board stolen.

    • Charge your card on file for the full replacement cost of the gear.

  • If the board is not returned by the end of the operating day and you contact us the next day, you may keep the gear—we will charge the full replacement cost.

How Late Fees Are Handled
If you are late, we’ll notify you via text or email with:

  • Time Stamped photos.

  • Summary of late fees.

  • We will then charge your card on file.

Weather and Water Conditions Policy

We want you to have fun—but more importantly, we want you to stay safe. This policy explains how weather and water conditions affect rentals, and who has final say in whether it's safe to paddle.

Unsafe Conditions – We Call It Off
Board Bros reserves the right to cancel or reschedule any rental if conditions are deemed unsafe. This includes but is not limited to:

  • Thunderstorms or lightning in the area.

  • High wind advisories (typically over 15–20 MPH).

  • Extreme heat warnings (over 102°F).

  • Hazardous air quality (AQI over 150).

  • Flash flood alerts or other active water advisories.

In these cases, you'll be given the option to reschedule or receive a full refund.

Light Weather – Still a Go
We do not cancel or refund for:

  • Light wind.

  • Cloudy skies.

  • Light drizzle or cold temps.

  • "Not ideal" vibes.

Your Responsibility – Know Before You Go
Customers are responsible for checking local conditions before arriving. If you show up and decide you don’t feel like going anymore, standard cancellation rules apply—no refund.

We suggest checking:

Rules of Use

Renting with us means you agree to follow some simple rules to keep yourself, others, and the gear safe.

Safety First

  • Life jackets (PFDs) are required at all times while on the water. No exceptions.

  • Follow park or lake rules of the location you are paddling in.

  • It is your responsibility to know the rules of the area you are paddling in.

  • You must be able to swim.

Prohibited Behavior

  • No alcohol, marijuana, or drug use before or during your rental.

  • No paddling under the influence.

  • No horseplay or reckless behavior, including but not limited to:

    • Flipping boards.

    • Towing others.

    • Standing on stacked boards.

  • Do not leave gear unattended in public areas.

Group Responsibility

  • The person who booked the rental is financially and legally responsible for all participants in the group.

  • If someone in your group breaks these rules, you may be charged for any resulting damages, fines, or liabilities.

Emergency Situations

  • If you feel unsafe or get stuck, call 911.

Waiver Requirement

Before hitting the water, every renter and participant must sign our Release of Liability and Assumption of Risk Waiver as well as the Rental Agreement

Waiver—no exceptions.

  • This waiver protects both you and us by acknowledging that paddleboarding involves risks and that you voluntarily accept them.

  • If a participant is under 18, a parent or legal guardian must be present and sign on their behalf.

  • Waivers are signed in person on a hard copy at pickup and are required before any equipment leaves our hands.

No waiver – no rental.
